Democratic officials voiced outrage after Donald Trump alleged a contingent of Democratic legislators of being "traitors" and asserted they should be detained and punished "through capital punishment" following their posting of a contentious video.

The Recording That Sparked the Dispute

The recorded message, shared on earlier this week, includes six Democratic lawmakers who in the past served in defense or intelligence positions.

"Like us, you all made an pledge to defend and uphold this founding document," the representatives declared in the short video. Democratic Representatives Respond

Following Trump's remarks on Thursday, Democratic leadership published a joint statement censuring the statements.
