Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts
The Gunners' ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.
In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Parenting Life
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football team," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for several years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
West Ham's only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.
So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.
My son told me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
Fulham have got lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
Their display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not going to do that. Rather, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
