Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
