New Information Come to Light Regarding the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the tragic passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Additionally disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes descriptions of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
