Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
