Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Worries.
'Serious blow' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.
Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.
The pace bowler felt a problem in his left leg post-delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.
Team management indicated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time off the field to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".
The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.
England have already lost key quicks one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman to a side strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was called up as injury reinforcement.
The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, managing only a handful of scalps.
He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.
The county bowler improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three England players to reach double figures.
Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he returned for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.
Yet, on the final ball of that over, he bowled a variation to the batsman and immediately felt for his hamstring.
The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test after being left out of the third.
