President Trump Calls Families of Injured Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence
President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Devastating Event
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support public safety in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”
Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Government Changes
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and halt granting visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
