Supporters Demand Arrest of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are urging that a individual who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was set to be present on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile features videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while others requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two very different sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, securing several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
